I have had the pleasure of watching Matt and Heather’s relationship grow over the last couple years 🙂 I even had the pleasure to help Matt with his proposal, give approval of the AMAZING custom engagement ring he designed for Heather, and help him find a photographer (aka Jessica Mae) to document his proposal in NYC just after Christmas.
Heather, Matt and I started talking about their engagement session and I kept getting more and more excited. I always tell my couples to pick a location that has meaning to them or to pick a place where they can have fun, they can relax, and they can feel comfortable to be themselves and be in love 🙂 Heather and Matt had semi met in passing through the Heart Association but their relationship started at the Good Friday service at Trinity UMC in Homewood almost 3 years ago. Trinity has been a huge part of their relationship as has Matt’s cat, Puss. It was a no brainer that Puss would be involved in their engagement session and that we would have to do some photos in Trinity’s beautiful sanctuary (where they will also be tying the knot this fall 🙂 Lastly, we knew we had to show off the city of Birmingham. Let me tell you, Matt and Heather are two of the biggest Bham cheerleaders and supporters that I know. They have been movers and shakers in this community for a while and I always look to them to know what to be pay attention to and get involved in.
All this being said, it was a true joy and great honor to get to document their relationship. We started with relaxed photos in their home with Puss, followed by photos at Trinity and ending the night over looking the most beautiful and peaceful sunset over the city. I had to give very little direction to these two and the result was me getting to capture the truest view of their relationship. Enough talking from me; enjoy these adorable photos of two of my dear friends! I cannot wait to document more of their story this November!
PS- check out their super cool framed Birmingham prints!!
Matt has converted one of their bedrooms into a study. He is a HUGE history buff and avid reader. They spend most of their Sunday afternoons reading through the travel section of the New York Times talking about where they want to one travel to. He also has shelves of books in here. I believe he has read a biography on every American President. When I say this session was so ‘them’ I reallllyyy mean it. How adorable are these photos?! Below, Matt is spouting off facts on his favorite president.
